Christmas tree
The christmas tree is very popular to numerous countries all over the world. But what is the history of the Christmas tree? The first one was created in Germany in 1539 and instead of ornaments, they used food. It sumbolizes happiness of man and nature and in some coutries, people decorate real trees instead os plastic ones. This custom of decorating a tree every year at Christmas came to Greece in 1833, when the first German king called Othonas ruled.

Christmas traditions in the Czech Republic
In the Czech Republic there are a lot of different traditions in contrast to other parts of the world. One which really surprised me was that single women there perform a very unusual ritual on Christmas Eve day in order to find out if they will mary in the following year. With their backs to the house door they throw their shoes over their shoulder. If the shoe lands with the heel towards the door she will definitely stay single, while if the front of the shoe lands towards the door she will propably get married the following year and she will move out of her parents house and start the wedding preparations
Christmas Tree
The tradition that I find most interesting during christmas is the decoration of the christmas tree and the whole house in general! Although christmas started to be a religious time to celebrate the birth of Jesus, nowadays it is mostly known as a time to go shopping, eat candies and give presents. None the less my favorite feature is decorating the whole house as it brings out the very happy side of ourselves. It is one of the few chances people have to show how playful they still are ! And after all I find exciting all this colours!
