Thoughts on volunteerism and refugees/immigrants

The exact definition of volunteerism is the policy  of volunteering one's talents or time for charitable, educational,or other worldwide activites, especially in one's community.

Where does UNICEF operate and where is it based?
UNICEF's work is carried out in 192 countries through country programmes and National Committees. Some 85 per cent of the organization's posts are located in the field. There are seven regional offices as well as country offices worldwide, a research centre in Florence, a supply operation in Copenhagen and offices in Geneva, Tokyo and Brussels. UNICEF headquarters are in New York.

IMMIGRANTS

Immigration is the international movement of people into a destination country of which they are not natives or where they do not possess citizenship in order to settle or reside there, especially as permanent citizens or naturalized citizens, or to take-up  employment as a migrant worker  or temporarily as a foreign worker.

 REFUGEES

refugee, generally speaking, is a displaced person who has been forced to cross national boundaries and who cannot return home safely. They may also be called asylum seekers.

In conclusion,a refugee and an immigrant aren't the same, hence immigrants are not ''forced'' to leave their countries and they mostly do it in order to find a better paying job or generally a job whereas refugees are forced to leave their country because a war takes place there and they seek asylum in other countries.
Based on those information I firmly believe that the host countries should not in any case refuse entrance to those people who suffer from poverty and are probably praying for one slice of bread and one cup of water, here in Greece we think of those goods as something ordinary, however Greece's economy and in general the country hasn't got enough ''space'' for all those people and I also do not believe that because Greece is close to,for example,Iraq is the only one who has to take in all those people,so other countries of Europe, which have also experienced the bitterness of war through the world wars and know how sad and painful it is should also offer us some help by either by taking some of those people in and giving them a place to live or maybe give us some help in building asylums for those people.
