Gift-giving

It is true that nowadays the meaning of gift-giving has dissapeared. But does it have to be  that way? Has gift-giving really lost its meaning? My experience on two different occasions tells me that there are both appropriate and inappropriate gifts.
One of the best gifts I've ever received was 2 years ago. It was my piano. I have been playing since I was 8 years old, but I did not have my own one.  My parents brought it for me, for my birthday. It is true that when, I came into the house and first saw it in the living room, I was the happiest person in the world. I wanted it so much and suddenly it was mine.  One of my dreams, had come true, so I was so grateful to my parents for this wonderful present. I was playing the piano relentlessly for 3 hours. I was over the moon!
But no all gifts are chosen with such care. I'll never forget the present, which my aunt gave me last year. It was a pen, completely useless to me. But it is the thought that counts. It was my name day and she came to see me. She told me that I would love her present and so I thought that it was something amzing. But unfortunately, the gift did not come up to me expectations. But as I always say: ''It is better to give than to receive.'' Last but not least, giving gifts gives you an emotional reward.
To sum up, we can see that trere are both appropriate and inappropriate gifts. So next time you are hunting for a gift, try to find an appropriate one.

  1. Why was the pen useless? Didn't you use it?
I always lose my pens and any pen as a gift is always welcome.

  2. I didn't use it as I have plenty of them, so it wasn't suitable for me!
