We may not be alone

https://www.ted.com/talks/james_green_3_moons_and_a_planet_that_could_have_alien_life#t-619029

A widely discussed issue the final decades is the question if there is the possibility of existence of life beyond Earth. Well, a lot of scientists argue about this topic; some of them believe there is life beyond Earth but there are also other opinions opposed to this statement. At this talk at Ted.com James Green talks about a discovey made by planetary scientists that can rebut nowadays data. To become more specific,  James Green made a speech in order to explain the exraordinary discovery the scientists made. In addition, they found that at the planet Mars and at three moons of Saturn Titan, Europa and small Enceladus there were actually existed, maybe for hundred of thousands years, the ingredients which are vital for the existence of life. As James  emphasised, if we find find the answer for the existence of life at these planets and it is a positive one, then WE MAY NOT BE ALONE!!!

HOW LANGUAGE SHAPES THE WAY WE THINK

https://www.ted.com/talks/lera_boroditsky_how_language_shapes_the_way_we_think

The video I watched was about how language changes and affects the way we think. The speaker gave to the audience multiple examples of how some people think extremely differently because of their language. For example when some people have different words in their languages about the colour shades, then they recognise a lot more easily the difference between the shades. Moreover, she says that there exist about 7000 languages around the world and all are extremely different.I really believe that all the video can be said in one sentence  "Human minds have invented not one cognitive universe, but 7,000." I believe this video was very informative and also a very strong motive to continue learning english.

Food and Alientation nowadays

https://www.ted.com/talks/jamie_oliver/transcript

The very intriguing and timely subject of this specific talking concerns the alientation and food habits that moslty children and adolescents have nowadays whose vast majority is undoudtedly disappointing.

Jamie Oliver, the speaker is a very seasoned and experienced chef  on anything as far as food and cooking is concerned and I firmly agree with him that we all have to take a little bit of time to consider which the last time was that we actually  scheduled strictly our diet. Really there is no need to be exaggerating or eating solely salads and fruit, but everyone needs to contemplate on their unhealthy food choices and actually start adopting a healthier lifestyle involving physical activities in order to feel better with themselves and avoid feeling ashamed of their appearance or affecting their health in harmful way . To conclude,I definitely recommend hearing and paying attention to this thought-provoking speech.

For more tolerance we need more .... tourism?

http://www.ted.com/talks/aziz_abu_sarah_for_more_tolerance_we_need_more_tourism/transcript?language=en

In this video we can watch a Palestinian entrepreneur and a peacebuilder talking about his past and the difficulties he has been through. His brother was beaten up and that caused his death. First he wanted to get revenge but then he changed his mind and he decided to study Hebrew and it was the first time that he met Jews that were not soldiers. Aziz Abu Sarah got on well with the Jews and ran a trip together to a Palestinian refugee camp to show them their traditions. This video was really touching and influential because it shows how to bring down the walls that separate people.

Music is medicine,music is sanity

In this speech, Rober Gupta talks about a promising musician whose career was cut short by an unfortunate and tragic affliction with paranoid schizophrenia. This had an enormous effect on his life and he ended up homeless in the streets of Skid Row.He refuses treatment because of being traumatized by the way he was treated in the past(shock therapy,Thorazine, handcuffs). These painful treatments left him a scar which made him prone to schizophrenic episodes. After listening to Beethoven's First and Fourth symphonies he met Rober and  he was really interested in taking violin lessons. He was in a state of agitation when his first violin lesson with Rober Gupta took place. He seemed lost.He talked about invisible demons and other such things that scared Rober. However, after Rober started playing the violin, his rage and maniac thoughts turned into understanding and grace, his look changed and he seemed better all of a sudden. After this he picked up his violin and started playing parts by ear.Music changed him from a disturbed and paranoid man to a charming and brilliant musician.

The Lady Lifers: A moving song from women in prison for life

This video is about the feelings of prisoners while the years are passing . It describes their emotions, their thoughts and the questions they came up with in this unknown ''home''. Moreover, they try to persuade themselves that prison isn't their home, but they'll finallly go out there and be proud of their strength. Futhermore, they have realized their faults and also they have recongnised their guilt and  ask questions such as: what will happen if they get through in this condition or whether they'll see their family again. Last but not least, they hope that they won't die alone in this ''cold place'' where everyone is a suspect of a wrong and regretted action , we can see that when the singers are crying. I chose this video due to the fact that they hope for a better future like everyone and their final message is strength and a brief summary of  their wants.

"The Man That Can Sing Everything"

There is a video in TED.com that is called, "Tom Thum: The orchestra in my mouth", in which there is a man who is beatboxing many tastes of music in front of an audience. There is no doubt that Tom is really talented and has the ability to drive crowds mental, since he is the proof that music has no limits and it provides many ways to people to express the magic they keep inside them. I have also to say that this video made me understand that music is the language that all people can speak in order to interact with everyone in a pleasant and thrilling way.

Tom Thum: The orchestra in my mouth

The video I watched demonstrated the unlimited possibilities of beatboxing.Tom skillfully showed us how he could create extraordinary sounds like trumpet, drums,or mandolin instrumentals. To make it more complex he used some devices which called them ''pads'' which helped him create longer and more interesting songs. But what I thought was really amazing about this video and generally Tom was that, although he was born and raised in a city which didn't quite help him improve his passion,he went against the odds and let his talent flourish inside of him resulting in him becoming not only a speaker of Ted but also an acknowledged artist.
