Just... imagine!

Do you think it is ever possible to live in a world like the one described in the song?  Is world peace and unity feasible?

  1. The world described in the song is the ideal! Everyone will have the same rights, the opportunity to express his thoughts, without worrying about any consequences. Moreover, there will not be any prejudice about black people or people who believe in different religion, but even to people with different sex. But it is so difficult to become all equal to each other and have the same rights. In my opinion I believe that it is very difficult to live in such a dream world because there are a lot of proponents that have deep in their minds that they are senior to other minorities; so we realize that they are not open-minded so as to accept the others’ differences and stop bias.

Although, I wish we would achieve world piece, I’m afraid that this is not an easy process to achieve. The main reason that we will never live in a peaceful world is because all those people who are in charge want to make their country the most powerful; for example America that invaded in Iran, with all their nuclear weapons, killed hundreds of people so as to draw oil from the soil, and make their economy to thrive. In addition, every country at the moment, even if there is no need, is obliged to spend a lot of money not only in defending weapons but also in offensive weapons. If they really want to live peacefully why should they buy all these nuclear weapons? Moreover, to achieve living in a peaceful environment we don’t only have to eliminate wars but to stop also rebellions with violent actions. Let’s see as an example our country; no single person has the right to through stones, or bombs against policemen for example, who are working trying to fend for them. The problem that they have with the government’s decisions they should deal with it in a more peaceful way. And who knows; had they a different way of demonstrating, they may had more effective results. All in all, I believe that it will be very difficult to resolve our differences peacefully and show respect to other countries properties, mostly because the heads of each country want more and more power.

  2. This is the way I am inclined to see things, Helen! I reckon there are too many personal, financial, religious and political interests in this world for world peace to be achieved. It is not in the human nature, I dare say! The will to dominate in every way lies deep within us and has something to do with our primal instincts.

And, of course, my lovely wonderful superb corrections: :-)

Although (NO COMMA!!!) I wish we would achieve world pEAce, I’m afraid that this is not an easy process to achieve. The main reason that we will never live in a peaceful world is THAT all those people who are in charge want to make their country the most powerful ONE; for example America that invaded in Iran, with all their nuclear weapons, killed hundreds of people so as to draw oil from the soil, and make their economy (NO TO) thrive. In addition, every country at the moment, even if there is no need, is obliged to spend a lot of money not only ON defenSIVE weapons but also ON offensive weapons. If they really want to live peacefully why should they buy all these nuclear weapons? Moreover, to achieve living in a peaceful environment we don’t only have to eliminate wars, but ALSO to stop rebellions with violent actions. Let’s EXAMINE WHAT HAPPENS IN our country AS AN EXAMPLE; no single person has the right to throW stones, or bombs against policemen for example, who are working AND trying to fend for themSELVES. The problem that they have with the government’s decisions should BE dealT with in a more peaceful way. And who knows; had they a different way of demonstrating, they may HAVE had more effective results. All in all, I believe that it will be very difficult to resolve our differences peacefully and show respect to other countries properties, mostly because the heads of each country want more and more power.

  4. In my point of view, it is almost impossible to exist a world like this, described in the song, because world is consists of billions people, and each one has it's own personality and it's own mind, that are so unique and different from person to person. So, unfortunately, for this and only reason, it is completely impossible, the thoughts of all people, be controlled in order to agree in a specific idea, the idea of global Peace, love and unity. We have been given the ability of the crisis, thought, and speech, in contrast with the other creatures of the world, but is not feasible for humanity to accept one way of living even if this could be for all our sakes. The situation that is presented in the song could exist only in a dream and could last only as a dream. so, dreams like this, are wonderful for as hold, but we have to be prepared to come back to reality, when we wake up..

  5. Hello bloggers !!

What interesting points of view! This song is wonderful like the "idealistic" world it describes. It captures the spirit of imagination, so it helps us to get away from it all by crossing the borders of an utopian sphere.

I will agree with all of you. It is a fact that domination, not only in terms of countries' sovereignty but also among human relations, constitutes only a minute part of the complex human nature. We can't help it so we have to get used to living with.

Nowadays, we are all experiencing that world peace is hard to be achieved. In the name of "human rights" the dominant countries of this planet sacrifice lives with a view to trespass on weak nations and capture their natural resources such as fossil fuels (include coal, fuel and natural gas). Take, for example, the situation in Libya, the forthcoming war in Syria (hope not...) and the turbulence in the Arab world. It is crystal clear that the "ruling nations" have the power and the know how to manipulate treaties as well as agreements for their own good without no consequences.

How could we stand up to them ? Off course by blogging (do you agree Christina ?) our oppositions to these atrocities and speaking out in favour of human rights and world peace as well.

Despite my pessimistic view I think we can leave our dream. Just take a few days off and travel ... let's say toooo Caribbean !!! Who cares about the money ... just close your eyes ... :-)

  6. Wow and again wow, I couldn't possibly be happier! I have read these fantastic comments by my amazing adult students (previous and current ones), so there is only one thing left for me to do: correct them, hehehe!

    Maria's comment:
-impossible for a world like this to exist
    - the world consists of
-his/ her/ their own personality and mind
-impossible to control the thoughts of all people
    - agree on a specific idea
    - the ability of critical thinking (not crisis)
    - be for the sake of all of us
    - to hold on

Maraki, great comment even though a bit pessimistic... However, I can't help but agree with you on most of the things that you mention. Didn't you read cousin George's enthusiastic comment about Caribbean and blogging? Some of the ways we can escape pessimism! Oh well, blogging is much cheaper, hehe! Speaking of George and his recent amazing blogging efforts, hmmm, let me see...

    George's comment:
    -living with it
-of human relations (in terms of is implied there)
-take advantage of their natural resources
    -including coal
    -know-how/ the way
    - without any consequences
    -of course :-)
    -live our dream

What a comment George! Your level has remained as high as I remember it to be! Keep up studying and blogging so that you win millions of points! :-)
